Roosevelt Elementary Magnet's mission is to have all students reading at or above grade level by the end of third grade. Success For All™ (SFA), a comprehensive school reform model, was adopted to continue to show consistent gains in the area of reading for all students.
A transitional Spanish/English bilingual program is offered to support our Latino/Hispanic students. The bilingual reading program, Lee Conmigo, parallels the English curriculum and is part of SFA. The SFA program uses quarterly assessments to place students in classes according to their instructional level and to monitor their reading progress. Roosevelt will continue to use the Success for All™ curriculum in grade K, 1, 2 and 3 and will implement Reader's Workshop for grades 4, 5 & 6.
Roosevelt provides a quality, caring environment for its entire student population using the Responsive Classroom® model and is working to promote a strong collaboration between school, home and the community.
