North End Elementary is a Pre-K-6 grade program that emphasizes mentoring urban learners to become our future leaders. The school core belief is that every student has the ability to learn if given the opportunity.  We use the “Success for All” reading program, which is a research-based curriculum that ensures every child can and will learn.

Reading instruction is 90 minutes, uninterrupted . The “Everyday Math” curriculum is instructed for a minimum of 60 minutes each day, which includes flexible grouping to make sure all students grasp the daily objectives. Writing instruction is delivered using the Writers Workshop model in which students learn to become life-long writers. Services for English Language Learners are nationally recognized, and special education students receive a full range of services, including autism support.

North End offers a safe, nurturing environment where students will learn and reach their maximum potential.  Our school encourages parental involvement and seeks partnerships with our students, families and community.  North End truly believes it takes a village to raise a child.

As of the 2008-2009 school year, North End implemented boys and girls university academies that are gender-specific for Grades K-3; Grades 4-6 will be integrated with one grade added each year starting in 2009-2010 until all classes are gender specific by 2011-12.
