Highland Park Senior High is a dynamic educational community with a strong tradition of excellence in academics, arts, athletics and service.  All classes are built on rigorous state and national standards and course work prepares all students for college or an education beyond high school. Instruction is carried out by an energetic and committed staff.

Highland Park Senior High’s International Baccalaureate (IB) program is a comprehensive and rigorous two-year academic program for highly motivated students interested in a pre-university program. IB courses are offered across the curriculum and students choose how to participate in the program. We offer long-standing successful specialties such as Chinese language and culture, Spanish Immersion, and French Immersion.

Highland Park Senior High has developed a ninth grade house to provide appropriate supports for  9th graders, a pivotal transition year. Key to our success is an  Advisory Program that provides students a continuity of teachers and classmates while at Highland. Each student's Advisory Team provides extra interventions and opportunities on a daily basis. Classes and community-based learning experiences meet the state's graduation standards, the school district graduation requirements and college entrance requirements.

Special Features:

  • We offer a wide range of Special education programs to meet the needs of individual students.

  • Students participate in instrumental music, choir, theater, and Chinese dance productions.

  • Post-Secondary Education Options (PSEO) allows students to take courses at college campuses in the Twin Cities beginning in their junior year.

  • Highland also offers Advanced Placement (AP) classes and College in the Schools (university courses for college credits) and Career Pathways.

  • Extracurricular activities include a wide array of athletics, clubs, musical/arts/theater groups, student government and community service organizations.
