Frost Lake Magnet School's long-term educational plan prepares its students to live and contribute in today's globally interdependent world. Frost Lake teachers use a variety of teaching techniques and strategies to maximize student achievement, self-esteem, and higher order thinking skills. Students are taught reading and writing using the workshop model, which is endorsed by the St. Paul Public School's Project for Academic Excellence (PAE). Students use a variety of technology tools to learn in all subject areas.
In addition, 2.5 literacy/math coaches, teaching specialists in gifted/talented education, technology and global studies assist classroom teachers by developing the school's academic program, teaching in teams and being resource guides.
Frost Lake's curriculum integrates technology and global studies across the curriculum, while the instructional focus includes Readers and Writers Workshops and integrated math. Academic Progress indicators at Frost Lake include: MCA test scores, DRA Benchmark Assessments as well as formative assessments in classrooms.

- School is located adjacent to the Frost Lake Pond and has a school courtyard and greenhouse, which enhances our environmental studies and science programs

- 3 sections of a full-day kindergarten program
- Kindergarten uses the ELL Collaborative Model for second language learners
- Full-time gifted/talented specialist to coordinate Frost Lake's gifted/talented educational program using a School wide Enrichment Model (SEM)
