Franklin Music Magnet Elementary School offers students the opportunity to explore and experience music to its fullest in addition to providing a strong academic environment. A majority of the students at Franklin take lessons during the school day on instruments that are provided.
Primary violin instruction is provided in interactive small groups beginning in kindergarten through second grade; this is a core foundation of our instrumental music program. For students in grades 3-6, instruction is offered on most orchestral and band instruments including guitar and keyboard.
All kindergarten through sixth grade students receive regular instruction in vocal and general music. All music students perform regularly in large ensembles such as band, orchestra, choir and keyboard recitals. Opportunities for public performance are offered in regularly scheduled concerts and tours throughout the community.
Franklin values a rigorous academic environment for its students. Our staff is dedicated to literacy, mathematics, social studies and science across the curriculum. One hundred percent (100%) of our teachers continue to be trained in the Project for Academic Excellence.
Franklin has a broad spectrum of services addressing the needs of our diverse student population including a music department, gifted and talented program, science specialist teacher for grades K-6, physical education program, humanities for 5th and 6th grade, full-time librarian, full-time counselor, nurse and social worker.
Our English Language Learners (ELL) enhance the student population and are taught by five full-time ELL teachers in collaboration with our classroom teachers. A Kindergarten Language Development Model enhances vocabulary acquisition.
