Crossroads Montessori features an individualized approach to education and an emphasis on collaborative work. Students learn how to become independent, self-directed learners and develop creative, critical and higher order thinking skills.

Precisely designed Montessori materials help students learn and lead to deeper understandings of concepts in all subject areas. In addition, other standards-based programs such as Writer's Workshop are blended into the Montessori method.

The school is organized into three levels of multi-grade classrooms: Children's House (4-year-olds and all day K), Elementary 1 (grades 1-3), and Elementary 2 (grades 4-6). The multi-age classrooms promote a cooperative and family-like atmosphere in which each student is respected and supported. Students stay with the same teacher for two or three years which has a positive effect on learning and behavior.

Special Features:

  • Students wear colorful school uniforms with the Crossroads logo.

  • Teaching specialists include art, creative movement, gym, music and Spanish. Orchestra and band are offered beginning in fourth grade.

  • A gifted and talented services teacher provides specialized instruction for identified students. The Schoolwide Enrichment Model is used to integrate gifted and talented instruction into the regular academic program and provides challenging learning opportunities for all students.
