Bruce F. Vento Elementary School is an exciting and richly diverse school that proudly reflects that Eastside community.  Vento Elementary provides students with an academically challenging and rewarding learning environment. In accordance with St. Paul Public Schools' Project for Academic Excellence, teachers use the workshop model in reading, writing and math. Teachers integrate the three workshops so students see the connections in their learning. The workshop model provides all students with individualized instruction, small group instruction, and whole group instruction based on their  specific learning needs.

Vento Elementary offers all students specialist classes in science, music, physical education, and computer technology. In addition to the traditional Pre K-6th grade program, Vento offers the option of a dual immersion program in grades K- 2 (for 2008- 2009, adding a grade each year) for families who want their children to learn to read, write, and speak in both Spanish and English.

For students who are new to English, intensive language support is offered through the Language Academy program. Classroom teachers and ELL specialists collaborate to provide students in language academy with specialized language instruction in addition to extra support in the classroom.

In order to keep the focus on academic and personal development, Vento uses the pro-active discipline program CHAMPs. This program teaches students the behaviors that are required in a learning community and helps them to take ownership of those skills as they learn to self-monitor themselves.

To ensure that all students succeed, Vento collaborates with the Eastside Family Center, East Side Learning Center and Ramsey County Human Services.  We know that a neighborhood community working together can and does succeed- our students prove it!
