The Museum Magnet School is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence that integrates the STEM concept of using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics to extend student educational opportunities.
We want students to understand and be able to explain what they have learned. We use the "museum model" approach to learning as a dynamic support to a strong foundation of standards-based education. Students participate in hands-on and interactive activities to explore experiment, exhibit and explain their projects.
Students also integrate Music, Technology, and Physical Education into their exhibits. We have an exhibit hall and a light-filled atrium where we showcase our student-created exhibits in presentations to other students and families. The projects are the foundation of our school's unique approach and focus.
We support our in-school work with field trips to various museums including Science Museum of Minnesota, Bell Museum of Natural History, Planetarium, Bakken Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Maplewood Nature Center, Minnesota History Center, The Works, Minnesota Center For Book Arts, Young Audiences, Visual Artists, Valley Branch Environmental Learning Center, and Como Zoo Outreach Program.
If you are looking for a school with a small, warm environment; engaging and experienced teachers and a place that celebrates diversity, we invite you and your child to Museum Magnet. We are St. Paul's hidden gem and we want you to join our community of active and engaged learners. Visit our website at museum.spps.org.
