L'Etoile du Nord French Immersion School (LNFI), Saint Paul Public School's first and only French immersion school, offers a rigorous academic program plus the gift of a second relevant language.

At LNFI, students learn content in both English and French in a warm and welcoming environment. By the sixth grade, all students are functionally bilingual, which empowers them, builds their self confidence, and expands their educational and linguistic horizons while raising their social and global consciousness.

Through its total immersion model, the school has consistently shown great growth in standardized tests, and development in core curricular areas.  Among its other offerings are technology integration, service learning, student council, plus an array of services in enrichment/gifted and talented education.  L'Etoile du Nord also prides itself for its community /international partnerships and strong parental involvement as evidenced by its active site council and Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

Knowledge of French is not required for students entering kindergarten or first grade. However, students applying for entry into grades 2 through 6 must participate in an intake assessment and must meet admission criteria.

Special Features:

  • The school offers a full-day kindergarten program through sixth grade, with a middle school extension/articulation program at Highland Junior High School.

  • The full-day kindergarten program is offered for early language acquisition and retention.

  • This school offers excellent gifted and talented services and other enrichment opportunities in both French and English languages, in addition to opportunities in the arts, debate, chorus, technology and partnerships.
