Crosswinds East Metro Arts and Science School is a year-round secondary school serving students from St. Paul and 9 surrounding suburban member districts. It is the only school in the State of Minnesota to offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, years 1 (6th grade) – 5 (10th grade), housed in one building.

Crosswinds Arts and Science School was fully authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) in July 2007. Our MYP model supports our Science and Art Magnet foci. Through our Middle Years Programme philosophy we encourage our students to “participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world” (www.ibo.org).

Through interdisciplinary learning, challenging assessment, hands-on instruction, service learning, and global appreciation and exploration our Middle Years Programme teaches children how to go beyond simply memorizing facts to learning and evaluating information critically and applying their learning to the world beyond school.

By providing a culturally diverse educational community, Crosswinds seeks to address each student’s special talents and needs as he or she becomes a responsible global citizen and an environmental steward.
